New Colonel Named H. W. Ells To Lead Fort Sidney Days
H. W. Pat Ells chief of the Sioux Ordnance Depot fire department is named honorary colonel for 1957 Fort Sidney Days. He will preside at the opening ceremony June 20 and address Miss Fort Sidney Pageant Friday night. Ells moved to Cheyenne County in 1911 and joined SOD in 1942 becoming chief in 1943. He lives in Sidney with his wife Grace and two daughters Mrs Charles Bowers and Mrs Vern Miller.

Charles Neiman Dead at 90 Rites Saturday
Charles E. Neiman, 90, a longtime Potter farmer, died early this morning in Cheyenne County Memorial Hospital after a 12 day stay. He moved to a Potter farm in 1913 from Deshler Nebraska and later lived with his nephew William J Prehm. Funeral services Sunday at 2 pm at First Lutheran Church Potter. Burial in Potter Cemetery. Surviving wife Amelia, daughter Ruth Carlson of Ansley Nebraska, and several grandchildren and nieces.

Sidney considers removing time limit in zone code
Sidney council moved to bar the time limit on nonconforming uses in the new zoning ordinance. The measure would let existing legal uses continue indefinitely unless abandoned, affecting basement apartments and service stations while prompting possible boundary changes for Gordons Wrecking Yard. A June 10 hearing date was set on re zoning Joyce Abbott and Clarence Chambers properties on 13th Avenue.

Charges Readhed Against Man in Check Forgery Case
Clarence H. Baldwin 56 of Oklahoma City faces 56 criminal charges in Cheyenne County after reporting under the name Joe Wall and attempting two Sidney checks for 44 each, both refused. A forged signature on the first check led to custody with the check in his pocket. A $27.50 forged cashing surfaced later, sheriff says.

Stolen 1950 Car Found Wrecked on Road
