Sioux Ordnance Depot Sees Armed Forces Day Tour

The Telegraph previews Sioux Ordnance Depot operations and upcoming Armed Forces Day tours. Thousands will visit SOD next Sunday to see two new weapons: the Lark guided missile and a depot-built Corporal replica. The installation stands as a permanent part of national defense amid growing missile interest.

Missiles Featured At Sioux Depot Open House

Two guided missiles will headline Sioux Ordnance Depot Armed Forces Day open house on Sunday. An inert 18 foot Lark and a Corporal surface to surface replica will be shown with a close up view of weapons and a 25 mile bus tour of the depot. Moving pictures and exhibits on ammunition, weapons, and handling equipment will run from 1 pm to 4 pm with tours leaving at 1 pm and last tour at 4 pm.

County Cancer Meeting Set for Cheyenne Chapter

An organizational meeting of the Cheyenne County chapter of the American Cancer Society is scheduled for Wednesday May 15 at 8 p.m. in the city auditorium basement. County chair Frank J Mattoon urges all volunteers to attend. officers include William D Harte secretary and Marguerite McMillen treasurer.

County Receives 1956 Insurance Tax Share for Cheyenne County

Cheyenne County will get 12 880 from Nebraska’s 1956 gross premium tax on insurance. Of this, 60 percent funds school districts, 30 percent to Sidney and county villages, and 10 percent to the county general fund. Statewide tax totaled 2 826 391 with half to the general fund and half distributed among 93 counties. Other Panhandle counties listed include Banner 1 412 Kimball 4 566 Deuel 3 550 Morrill 8 809.

Emma Gorman Dies in California at 75

Mrs Emma Gorman mother of Leo Gorman of Sidney died May five in Pomona California after a stroke on January fifteen She had lived in North Platte years before moving to California in 1937 Funeral services were held May eight at St Joseph Church Pomona Survivors include six children Lea Sidney Lynn North Platte and three sons and a daughter all living in California

Sinclair plaque honors Kokjer Motors for 20 years

Sinclair Refining Co presented a plaque Saturday to Kokjer Motor Co in recognition of 20 years outstanding business relations. The message was signed by J F Dyer and presented to Thomas Kokjer by Robert Finke, local Sinclair representative.

Mud Springs Club plans exhibit at Cheyenne County Museum

The Mud Springs Club will stage a June exhibit at the Cheyenne County Historical Museum in Sidney focusing on the telegraph and Pony Express era. The display runs June 17 to 22 in the M. W. Osborn building with planning led by Mrs. F A Geller and Mrs. Leonard Freeburg, and a fifth central theme area will be added later.

Rev. Parks Undergoes Eye Surgery in Baltimore

Kimball Driver Fined 110 Total in County Court

H. R. Benjamin, 64, of Kimball, was fined 110 and costs after pleading guilty to driving under the influence and to having no Nebraska operator's license. County Judge C. W. Smith barred him from state roads for six months. Benjamin was arrested 12 miles west of Sidney yesterday by the Nebraska Safety Patrol.
