Wreck at O’Neil highlights railway dangers and staff changes
An open switch at O’Neil west of Rawlins Wyoming caused a serious wreck last Tuesday. Five crew members were killed or injured and Louis Banty, a well known local fireman, perished in the flames. The Baldwin compound engines arrive for summer service and Day Operator Massey will relocate to Grand Island in a few days. Skinner will oversee the telegraph office. The Julesburg coal washout has been repaired and trains run normally. A new time card goes into effect Sunday adjusting evening and morning mail.

Tramp Stabbed in Stockyards. Suspect at Large
A tramp was found stabbed in the stockyards with a four inch back wound from a hunting knife. The assailant, a about twenty year old man with a smooth face and Roman nose, fled and remained at large. The wounded man, Robert McMullan of Marlboro Massachusetts, was hospitalized in precarious but improving condition. Authorities expect to arrest the suspect soon.
