Sidney council holds closed session with fire department

The Sidney City Council met behind closed doors with representatives of the Sidney Volunteer Fire Department for 35 minutes to discuss ordinance issues and fire department matters. Mayor Lee-Ellen Matzke said few details are available. The council also approved paving and water sewer districts near Western Heritage Center and accepted the resignation of City Manager Maynard Dils, who will move to Westerville Ohio in June.

First Cheyenne area school bus rodeo set at WNTC

Bus drivers from Cheyenne Deuel and Kimball Counties will compete June 11 at the Western Nebraska Technical College campus in the first regional school bus rodeo. Thirteen districts from the three counties enter events including obstacle course picking up students stopping at railroad tracks parallel parking and backing into a garage.

Summer recreation programs gear up for season in Sidney

Sidney residents prepare for a busy summer of recreation with eight lighted tennis courts, upgraded lighting at Toledo Street venues, and new craft and swimming classes.
