Builders Urge Forest Funds for Timber Harvest
National Association of Home Builders joined the wood industry in urging Congress to boost mature timber harvest to meet housing demand. NAHB notes forests hold over half of the nation’s saw timber yet provide only about one third of logs for lumber and plywood. It asks the Forest Service to use more of its revenues for roads and intensive silviculture including planting thinning and fertilizing.
