Chappell Cheese Factory Sparks Nebraska Industry Note
LePrino Cheese Factory in Chappell Nebraska employs about 25 workers daily, producing around 15,000 pounds of cheese and five to ten thousand pounds of whey daily. Milk arrives by LePrino tankers from western Nebraska and Colorado. The plant ships cheese to Denver for aging and markets whey as cattle feed. Reuben Vogt manages the operation, a Wisconsin native, overseeing Italian cheese along with colby and cheddar. The factory remains partly secretive with restricted areas, while its product sells in Wisconsin, national markets, and abroad.
