Carlson Award Won Over Injuries From Shooting Scrape
Richard Carlson, deputized citizen, received damages of 350 for injuries from the February shooting involving Thomas W. Tompsett who killed Sheriff James Nelson. Pioneer Cheyenne County Farmer Killed in Auto Crash
Henry Anderson a pioneer Cheyenne County farmer was killed near Sidney when struck by an automobile driven by Philip E. Poss Jr of Chicago. Witnesses said the accident, three miles west of Sidney, was unavoidable as Anderson paused at the highway edge. Poss faced no charges per County Attorney Hodgkin. Anderson had attended the power machinery show and was walking home to his Bronson area farm when struck.

Funeral services were held Wednesday in the Methodist church for Eldon D. Cooley a Sidney gro cer who drowned April 27 at Harris Lake near Oshkosh. Burial at Greenwood Cemetery with Knights of Pythias and Rice funeral service in charge. He was born December 18 1899 at Albion Nebraska and married Ethel Walker in 1924. mother and daughter Maxine Elaine survive along with his parents and several siblings. The best known Piggly Wiggly operator in the area, Cooley helped build the Sidney store into a leading middle west outlet, a life memory noted by friends and church members.
