Panhandle forecast shows fair days with patchy showers
The Panhandle weather outlook calls for generally fair conditions through Tuesday with a chance of light rain Tuesday afternoon. Overnight lows near 40 to 50, Tuesday highs 60 to 70, and rain chances under five percent tonight and about ten percent Tuesday. Sidney Hosts Large Sports Boat and Travel Show
Sidney held its first Sports Boat and Travel Show last Friday and Saturday drawing about 2,500 visitors. The event, sponsored by local businesses led by Kokjer Motor Co and Sidney National Bank, displayed underwater scuba gear, camping, boating, fishing and golf equipment, with a $250,000 Chevrolet exhibit and prizes including a Polaroid camera and Haig-Ultra golf irons. Winners were John Schmitt, Ron Barker, and Maralyn Reich, with Schmitt choosing first. Poor weather did not dampen turnout.

Cattle And Hogs Show Firmer Tone At Sidney Sale
Stronger cattle and hog values appeared in Saturday sales at the Sidney Livestock Sales Pavilion. Heavy steers drew eager buyers from Nebraska and beyond with prices up to 25.50 for 707 lb steers and 27 for lighter lots. hogs rose about 1.50 per hundred with a top of 19.60 for 225 lb hogs and 19.30 to 19.50 for 200-240 lb barrows. A pavilion spokesman noted well finished hogs should bring premium prices and said buyers and sellers were pleased despite a cold spell breaking that day.
