Pump irrigation loan bill proposed by Curtis in Nebraska

Rep. Carl T. Curtis introduced a plan to make state approved federal loans available to farmers for pump irrigation equipment. The program would require a state enabling act and approval from local authorities, with repayment over twenty years via taxes tied to the land. Security would be first lien on the land, and the loan would not exceed pre irrigated land value. Senator Harry E. Gantz seeks similar laws to protect underground water resources and is studying models from other states.

State Act Program Upheld by Court in U S District ruling

U K District Judge John L Park upheld the 1939 law creating a 59000 state advertising commission and ordered a reduction in motor fuel inspection fees from 1.5 to 0.08 cents per gallon. The ruling preserves the advertising fund but says fee cuts may curb future expansion of the motor fuels division, which also stemmed from the 1939 legislature.
