A. H. Stewart of Denver buys one third of Mrs. Julia Scanion’s Sidney property north of the Hotel National, including the Kruse building. A company led by Stewart, B A Jones, J W Harper, A S S Hardy and W Klein will erect a hotel costing 30 000 to 35 000 dollars. The Hotel National lobby becomes a store room, the new lobby occupies space from two frame buildings, the corner house is remodeled for a cafe, and the hotel aims for sanitation, comfort and beauty with two full stories and managers Stewart Hardy and Klein.

Two Men Die In Dark Roadside Crash West Of Dalton
Carl E. Krueger and Will Carlson from Hooper Nebraska were found dead under a Ford roadster near Freeman ranch about five miles west of Dalton after running off a five foot grade. Their backs rested on Krueger’s chest and across Carlson’s neck. Found by Dick Shannon about eight hours after death, valuables and whisky were removed and turned over to the County Attorney. The men had left Dalton around nine o’clock the previous night for Randall Miller’s place, intending to reach Sidney, heading into muddy roads in rain. Carlson, aged thirty three, left a wife and two children, carried insurance. Krueger, about thirty five, unmarried, also insured. Their bodies were brought to Sidney where relatives were notified. Military or police involvement not indicated.

Last Day a Busy One for Ald John
John Barley Corn died without a struggle here about four o'clock Monday evening. He was surrounded by many of his pals who had spent most of their lives with him and oodles of tears were shed. John left souvenirs to the most faithful of his companions. Some have red noses and flat pockets to remember him by. Some have supplies from his counters to last them awhile and some have their names engraved on the police records. John was a magnetic old leader but his death did not bring a regret to a woman nor a child, nor to many men. Even some who have suffered at his hands are glad that temptation has been removed. John was certainly the deadest corpse and his funeral the most cheerful affair ever pulled off in Sidney.
