Smooth Swindler Impersonates Detroit Brewery Agent
A man calling himself A F Weber visited Sidney early in the week claiming to be a Detroit brewing firm's agent. He arranged for Mike Tobin to act as Sidney’s brewery agent, tried to get Mike to endorse a draft, bought jewelry from Reinhardt with two bad checks, and sent it to New York City. Reinhardt alerted Denver, revealing the checks were worthless, prompting sheriff Daugherty to notify the railway conductor.

Omaha authorities telegraphed to arrest the suspect on the train. The sheriff departed Thursday night to escort him back to Sidney and is expected to arrive with him today.

Death of Mrs Tda Stuht Ends Quiet Life in Community
Mrs. Tda Stuht wife of William Stuht died Thursday afternoon after a two week illness. Born 1867 in Burlington Wisconsin she was 28 at death and lived here since 1882 with five children four of whom survive. Funeral at Lutheran church this afternoon at 2 with burial planned in Burlington.

Second Day's Session of Teachers Association
The second day of the Teachers Association opened at 9:35 with E. P. Cramer presiding. Officers were elected: Chambers as President, Miss Hosford as Vice President, Miss Peckham as Secretary, Miss Crownover as Treasurer, and Cromer with Chamberlain as Executive Committee. Papers on "The Ideal Teacher" and "The Place of the Novel in the Teacher's Library" were read. Afternoon sessions featured papers on teacher qualifications and education sources, with Yellowstone memories and community relations discussed. Evening session included resolutions praising reception and a patriotic address by Hon. W. K. Andrews.
