Sidney edged Scottsbluff by four points to win the second annual Western Nebraska high school music contest held before a packed Methodist church audience. More than 400 students from western Nebraska high schools competed in piano solos, vocal, cornet, glee clubs, bands, and orchestras, judged by three qualified judges led by William T. Extension agent L D Willey says O O Waggener of the state extension service will demonstrate hitching methods for large teams at the Ben Gross farm three miles north of Bronson on Wednesday May 9 at 2 o clock. Waggener will use eight horses and show tying and bucking back to keep all horses under two driven leaders. The system works for any number of horses driven by one man and used by farmers in Montana Oregon and Washington. Farmers in the area are urged to attend.

Lindbergh to donate Spirit of St Louis to Smithsonian
Col. Charles A. Lindbergh announced Sunday night that he would fly the Spirit of St. Louis to Washington and place the ship in the Smithsonian Institution. The flight, final for the plane used in his transatlantic and goodwill tours ending in St. Louis on February 19, will depart Lambert Field no earlier than eight or nine Monday morning with a possible enroute stop. No ceremony is planned for the plane’s retirement and it has undergone minor checks with no material issues found.
