Sidney High School has an outstanding year with multiple wins across events. The Western Nebraska district music contest and Lincoln agricultural judging contest highlight a season of success. The school tied for the Western Nebraska football title, posted strong basketball results, swept subdistrict declamatory prizes, claimed the debate and stock judging championships, and ranked fifth in the commercial contest. Henry Stewart Dies at Home of Son Near Peetz
Henry Stewart a retired farmer died Tuesday April 24 at his son Carl Stewart’s home near Peetz. Born June 3 183 near Belfast Ireland he came to the United States at 18 and became a naturalized citizen. He lived in Harrison County Iowa then moved to the farm southwest of Lorenzo. Survived by nine children John Stewart Ag er Cole Ella Peterson James Stewart William Stewart Carl Henry Stewart Leonard Everett Stewart and 34 grandchildren. Services were held at the home yesterday morning at ten, body taken to Logan Iowa for burial.

Floyd Bennett, famed North Pole explorer who flew with Admiral Byrd, died at 10 50 am in Quebec after pneumonia, while his wife lay ill at the same hospital. American racing star Frank Lockhart perished at Daytona Beach after losing control of his Stutz Blackhawk special during a test run to break the straightaway mile speed record. He was thrown clear as the car overturned and wrecked on the beach. he died at 8:38 a.m. Mrs Lockhart watched from the stands as the accident occurred and sprinted to her husband’s side.

Lincoln woman killed in auto crash near Greenwood
N R Wilhelmy of Lincoln a former Sidney resident, was driving north on the D L D highway east of Greenwood when his car collided with Leonard W Kline of Lincoln. Mrs Wilhelmy was instantly killed, her body placed in Morey's chapel Lincoln. Wilhelmy narrowly avoided a head on and their car was destroyed. No inquest was desired by Mr Wilhelmy and funeral arrangements were not yet made.
