Beermann faces ruling over Senate ballot placement
Lincoln AP Secretary of State Allen Beermann said he followed the law in placing Democratic senators Edward Kennedy and Hubert Humphrey on the Nebraska presidential primary ballot May 11. Judge Herbert Ronin upheld Beermann's decision despite declinations, saying the statute required listing a candidate if their name appeared on any state's ballot. Ronin refused to issue an injunction to remove the two from the ballot. The case notes Beermann initially added the names, then replaced them after Oregon listed the senators on its primary ballot.
