The Panhandle area sees cloudy, cold weather with light snow this afternoon tonight and Tuesday. Daytime highs near 30 to 40, lows 5 to 15, and measurable precipitation probabilities at 10 percent today 60 percent tonight 40 percent Tuesday. Extended outlook calls for more snow showers and continued cold through Wednesday and Thursday with a gradual warmup to the 50s by Friday.

Wet Snow Falls Heavy Across State In Easter Weekend
Snow moved in Sunday and Monday bringing two to three inches in the valley and coating highways with wet, sticky flakes. FAA reports one inch at the airport with .16 inches moisture. Travel slowed by poor visibility as snow extended across the state into Wyoming and Colorado. Temperatures ranged from the mid teens to low fifties over the period.

Window Breakings and Thefts Hit Sidney Over Weekend
Sidney police investigate four vandalism incidents over the weekend. Rod Necker reports six stereo tapes and a tape caddy stolen from a car at the city park near the Elks Lodge. Sidney High School suffered nine rear windows broken, St Patrick's ten school windows, two bus windows shattered, and J M Trucking Company had several windows broken by beer bottles Friday night.

Farm Group Leader To Speak Here
The national president of the Farmers Union will speak at the Cheyenne County Farmers Union dinner this Saturday at the Fort Sidney Motor Hotel. Car Collision on 14th Avenue Injures Two Vehicles
Sidney police investigated an accident Saturday at 5:26 p m. Patricia L Gerber of 1002 3rd Avenue backed from a parking space and hit John Winkelman of Dalton who emerged from an alley on 14th Avenue near Maddox Motor Company. Gerber’s car sustained about 350 damage while Winkelman’s totaled about 100.

Father of Five Is The First Traffic Fatality Of 1970
LeRoy Doyle a 30 year old Sidney man died in a highway crash near Dalton after his 1969 Mustang left Highway 385 and struck trees on private property. He was alone and the impact mangled the car severely. Doyle leaves a wife five children and his parents. Investigating were Dalton firemen Trooper Dan Reece and Sheriff Kermit Brumbaugh.

11 Ton Press Causes Severe Truck Crash East of Sidney
A massive 11 ton stamping press fell from a semi trailer on Highway 30 near Sidney at 9 30 a m Saturday. The press damaged two trailers, overturned one, and blocked the highway for three hours. Driver Lawrence Ward and the rig owner IML Freight faced about 50 000 in total damage. The press weighed 21 561 pounds and was en route from the west coast toward the Chicago area.

Vandal burglaries hit Sidney Lodgepole firms early Sunday
Within three to four hours, three business firms were burglarized. In Lodgepole, Kripal's on Main Street was entered by a broken window but burglars fled after a sighting by Town Marshal Oliverius. a sack of cash was dropped. In Sidney, two break ins occurred at South Sidney station and Foster Lumber Company with cash, checks, and tools stolen totaling about 758.87. Sheriff Brumbaugh and deputies coordinated the probe with local police and highway patrol assistance.

Commuter Air Service Approved for Omaha Area

February bond sales in Cheyenne County reached 35602 with a two month total of 74973, 22.6 percent of the 1970 county goal. Nebraska statewide sales through February were 8542145, 20 percent of the yearly quota, up 3.3 percent from 1969. Series E bonds sold 6939042 through February, up 11.5 percent year over year, while Series II sales fell 32 percent in the same period.
