Changes In State Tax Laws Needed To Erase Inequities
Everett E. Peterson of the University of Nebraska Extension says Nebraska must reform tax laws to fix inequities. He notes rising costs in government over 25 years and heavy reliance on property taxes, with Nebraska high in property tax share and per capita burden. He argues inequities span occupation, rural vs urban, and renter vs owner groups, lasting regardless of spending.

Tranquilizers Promise Chemical Glass Walls for Cattle
Dr William Robertson of Schering told over 2000 cattlemen at the American National Cattlemen's Association meeting that tranquilizers could build a chemical barrier around cattle to guard against infectious germs during shipping. He said this would lead to drug automation, reduce weight losses, speed adaptation, curb shipping fever, and save about 100 million dollars annually, while warning that potency varies and veterinarians are the best source for guidance.
