A Mendelssohn hour at St Patrick's Academy drew parish friends Monday with 25 young ladies performing solo numbers and choral pieces. Miss Simones impressed with a sweet powerful voice, while Miss Duffen read the life of the composer.
George L. Baker, formerly owner of a northern divide ranch, now lives in Redondo Beach California. He left for Honolulu last Saturday to spend six weeks and sends greetings to his Telegraph friends.
The W. R. Wood auction last Monday at Fundingsland and Millett drew a large crowd with brisk bidding. High cow sold for 1038 dollars, horses fetched 85 to 200, chickens 75 cents each, corn 1 dollar per bushel, oats 70 cents. The sale totaled 9000 dollars, all cash except one small note, with C. L. Mann as clerk.
Voting booths will be open from nine A M to seven P M One councilman in each ward to be elected also the Mayor of City clerk city treasurer and city engineer and six members of the school board will be elected All voting residents both men and women of this school district can vote The school district is larger than the city and so far there has been but one ticket proposed making the election likely to be quiet
Judge Grimes presided at a special term from North Platte and ruled for the plaintiff in Badger and Tate, with an appeal likely. In Wellner v Cheyenne County Lumber Co the court sided with the defendant. Police Magistrate McCleneghan handled several incidents, including fines for drunks and vagrants.

Building shows no signs of diminishing with at least fifty houses planned for early spring. Contracts include two in Callahan addition one for R Jones one for QO R Owens on Lincoln and Olive for S Fishman two on Lincoln Highway West for Osborn and Jorgenson plus a two story eight room house for A S Ayle in Clarkson's Addition and a new bungalow for A A Ahiman on West Lincoln Highway. Thomas Antrim is the contractor for the listed builds and Miss Myrtle Lancaster is advancing on the two story eight room project. Old houses remain occupied or awaiting tenants and a field for five and six room bungalows grows as Sidney appears brighter for residence business and investment.
The annual interclass basketball series ended with the Grades defeating the Juniors 24 to 19 after a tight finish, securing the school pennant. Juniors had earlier beaten Freshmen and Seniors, with Runge and Roach starring for the Grades and Roach delivering long shots throughout.

In class one Sidney's Henry Stafford placed high but was edged by Oral Hare t of Alliance who won with Toussaint L Ouverture. In class two, Mildred James of Sidney won top honors with The boy orator of Zepata City, Violet Stezeman of Gering took second as judges and performers wrapped up with music.
The Union Pacific System reports that Sidney ranked in the fifty-one stations contributing more than $50,000 to passenger revenue for the year ended June 30, 1916. The notice highlights Sidney as a leading progressional area within the vast system.
County Assessor H Bettendorf called together precinct assessors in his court house office to ready the property list canvass due to begin April first. A large crowd at the Ideal watched Damaged Goods last Thursday. The drama is a moral play with strong character and clear lessons. The management shows good taste by alternately presenting cream comedy and instructive pictures.
Googie E. Ashley of Hoyt Colorado and Myrtle Booth of Elgin Nebraska were joined in marriage in this city on March 27 with Judge Chambers officiating. Thelma will be here Saturdays April 7.
