Emma Barbara Mathewson died shortly after birth at Cheyenne County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held at Gehrig and Son Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens Chapel in Sterling with interment there. Paxton Wreck Kills Man from Sterling and Injures Second
A Paxton car crash early today killed Gurney Arley Cox, 29, once of Sterling Colorado, and seriously injured a man who identified himself as Don Holliday, 28, born James Grubb in Ashland Kentucky. The wrecked car had been stolen in Sterling from Roland E. Assica. It was unclear who was driving or if both men traveled together.

Slippery streets fuel a rash of minor traffic accidents
Police Chief Sol Willis notes a surge of accidents on slick roads with mostly minor injuries. Incidents include Vera L. Hare backing into Hu bert M. Wheat price not tied to bread cost says Bruns
Carl Bruns, president of the Nebraska Wheat Growers Assn, argues cheap wheat does not equal cheap bread. He recalls 1947 when wheat at 2.50 a bushel meant 17c bread, and shows current figures with wheat around 180 per bushel and bread at 26c. The Scottsbluff weather bureau warned stockmen and residents in Western Nebraska to brace for a heavy wet snow up to eight inches, with rain and snow continuing through the weekend. Highway 30 Traffic Down In February
A February survey by the State Highway Department shows traffic on Highway 30 down 10 to 15 percent from a year earlier. Statewide traffic slipped about nine percent. Work Starts on $250,000 Dalton Co-op Elevator
