Sidney Raiders Show Promise In Exhibition Track Meet
The Sidney boys track team competed in an exhibition triangular with Kimball and Sterling. Coach Dick Osterday praised the effort of young runners and cited the distance medley relay of Brauer, Wolvin, Brocker, and DePoorter plus strong showings by Stroh and Narjes. Freshmen O Halloran, Lurber, Rehmer, and sophomore Balfour starred in shuttle hurdles with Balfour also hitting 10 6 in the pole vault and senior Hein posting a 48 4 in the shot.

The District I Junior Boxing Tournament is set for this Friday and Saturday at Sidney Junior High gym with 7:30 p.m. starts both nights and finals on Saturday. Winners advance to the Hastings state tourney on April 9 and 10.

Sidney Girls Fall to Kimball in Dual Meet
The Sidney girls track team lost 56-40 to Kimball in a season-opening dual in Sidney. Pam Selzer set a school shot put record at 33-6, one of five Sidney event winners. Dewann Diake tied the 100-yard dash school mark at 12.6 seconds, while Debbie Rowe won the discus at 89-7 and Pam Wamsley tied the high jump best at 46. The 440 relay and mile relay both posted standout times, and Sidney led in several events despite the defeat. The Raiders prepare for the Scott’s Bluff Relays this Saturday.
