The Automobile in Business and Pleasure
George M. Graham argues the automobile is essential beyond leisure, serving as a real estate stabilizer by linking farms to markets and urban centers, supporting centralized and individual transportation alike. He traces transportation from horse and boat to steam, rail, and electric systems, noting motor vehicles revive personal mobility and impact land values and city layouts.

Windbreaks Prove Popular Across Minnesota Demonstrations
Windbreak planting began in Minnesota as an extension project with the state forest department and has grown into a popular effort. Forestry experts directed demonstrations, Cloquet forest station supplied trees, and a representative from the forestry department conducted inspections. In 14 counties 72 windbreak demonstrations occurred through 1920 and 1921, with plans underway for 1922 and 1923 plantings. A year of soil preparation precedes planting, and both conifers and deciduous trees are used.
