Several girls attended the 4-H camp in Sidney and the Spring Party. Pam Berry modeled in the Dress Review, earning a purple ribbon and the County Medal. All members did well with their projects and displays at the County Fair, with plans to recruit new members this spring.
The Goodview 4-H Club tracing leaders from Mrs. John Kastens in the 1930s to Duane Bondegard and Dean Christensen in the 1960s highlights lasting leadership. The club, with 13 active members, pursues projects like Baby Beef pigs and sheep while honoring the county fair with teamwork and community support.
In 1966 the Lodgepole 4-H club with nine members including Karen Berry Susan Egging Becky Johnson Linda Mahin Susan Meick Carlen Ward Elizabeth Ward Brenda Duncan, received support from First State Bank Krieder and Son Zalesky's Frontier Farmers Co-Op Elevator Smith and Son Elevator Kripal's Chevrolet and Paul Fraass Blacksmith Pins And Pans. Leaders were Mrs Clay Berwry and Jr Leaders Jane Kriesel Diana Mahin. The club is a junior member of Gurley Garden Club hosting a bake sale during 4 H week and holding a fun day from proceeds and flower show entries in August.
One of the region’s largest 4 H clubs, Just Us 4 H in Sidney, is led by Larry Peetz with assistant LaVern Thomas. Project leaders include Chuck Lafler Wilmer Brauer and Duane Kahl. Members listed include Mike Myer Greg Brian Kevin Lafler Susan David Peter Lenzen Randy Cindy Debbie Brauer Bill Kahl Timmy Thomas Wally Thomas Keith Chris Rieken Clem Phil Schumacher Bobby Alan Elsen. Projects cover welding livestock swine rabbits rope and garden.
