Madison Sage of Nelson Nebraska arrived with a carload of machinery and household goods to a Marlowe tract. While waiting to unload the car he was told his wife had died and his son lay ill with pneumonia. He returned home at once amid widespread sorrow.
A Wednesday night caucus in Ward No 3 nominated four citizens for councilmen. J Oberfelder chaired the meeting with J A Nicholson as secretary. Nominees J Mc Cleneghan and L G Simon joined the slate for the ward's Citizens ticket as other candidates. Thirty eight voters attended the gathering.
J A Bentley organizes a benefit at the Ideal on Thursday March 1d for the High School Athletic Association. Net proceeds go to athletic funds to reduce indebtedness and the organizer hopes for a large attendance.

The Catholic school children perform Patricia this afternoon at the opera house. Management has taken care to stage an interesting performance and expects a large crowd with preparations in place to accommodate attendees.

Rachel J Dresser wed Lester Elkinton in a noon ceremony at the home of Mr and Mrs Fred Dresser. Reverend A J May performed the ring service as Mrs Case and Will Dresser stood as witnesses. The couple, after a four course dinner, left for a week in Denver and then a return to Illinois to be with relatives. Mrs Elkinton, reared in Sidney, is educated in an Illinois college. Mr Elkinton works at the Burlington depot.
On Wednesday March 15 1916 at the bride's parents home Miss Alice Myrtle Kerschner married Mr Thomas I Jones of Norfolk Nebraska The ceremony was conducted at 9:00 PM by G KR Miller with Vera Foster as maid of honor and T S Kerschner as best man Afterward guests enjoyed refreshments and the bride cut the cake The couple will reside on the south side after April 1st
Frank Henzl and Sophia Seda of Sunol united in marriage on Tuesday March 14 in Judge Chambers office. The celebration followed at the Seda home.
The Eudora Lodge No. 257 held a popular Friday night lunch with a program and games entertaining the large crowd. A delicious luncheon was served and about twelve dollars was added to the treasury.
The reverend W A Hornaday fell seriously ill with a paralytic stroke Thursday morning causing grave fears for his outcome. His children, living elsewhere, have been summoned.
Sidney Poole, longtime county settler and ranch owner, is reported very ill at his Julesburg home, prompting concern among local residents and family. He is listed as a prominent local figure due to his years of settlement and ranching in the area.
