Golden Anniversary Of Mr and Mrs Finn Observed
Mr and Mrs J L Finn of Broadwater celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last Sunday at their home 15 miles southeast of Bridgeport. The quiet family observance included daughter Della Lif and husband with sons Fred and Clayton of Torrington Wyoming, son Ernest and wife of Broadwater, and nephew Albert Finn of Bridgeport. Born in Wisconsin, they grew up in Franklin County Iowa, married March 6 1888, then moved west to a homestead a mile and a half from their current home 280 miles north of Sidney, their long time trading point and post office.

Hand asks court to compel Sidney board to complete Central school sale
Attorneys for J L Hand of Lincoln filed a petition in district court in reply to Sidney board of education action to revoke Hand's contract for the sale of the Central school building and property. Hand denies the board's power to cancel and seeks an accounting of insurance proceeds and subrogation as beneficiary. The contract valued at 5000 dollars called for completion by May 14 1937 with a 500 forfeit. Hand claims he tendered 4500 dollars but was refused. the building burned and the board pursued insurance.

Farmers Warned Against Signing For Tax Refunds

Pioneer Engineer on Union Pacific Dies in Los Angeles
Fred W. Dudley, 855 year old pioneer engineer on the Union Pacific, died in Los Angeles last week. Retired twenty years ago, he drove between Cheyenne and Sidney. Known to local residents, he served during days of Indian raids and bandit threats. Frank Tobin of Sidney was his stepson.

Hopper Control Meeting Set For Cheyenne County Tuesday
County Agent Swinbank announces the opening meeting for the 1938 grasshopper control program in Cheyenne county. Dean Eckhoff of the entomology department will lead the discussion on control work at the city auditorium basement on Tuesday evening March 15. All farmers who served on 1937 precinct hopper control committees are urged to attend, along with other interested farmers and business people. County Purchases Two New Patrol Machines This Week
Cheyenne county buys two Caterpillar No 10 44 horsepower diesel road patrol machines from Sidney Tractor and Machinery. Bids from Highway Equipment J D Adams Austin Weston and Allis Chalmers were analyzed with Sidney Tractor the lowest. The patrols replace aging equipment and the commission approved Caterpillar as the best fit.

Vehicle Inspection Plans Set by Sidney City Council
Sidney council decided to create an official motor vehicle testing station for Cheyenne county with city responsibility if dealers do not comply. Estimated equipment cost is about 1700 dollars. Starting April, owners must have cars and trucks tested to state standards and pay 50 cents per vehicle. About 3800 vehicles must be inspected. Jurgensen Receives Prison Term After Appeal Denied
