Lodgepole Landmark Demolished for New Fire Hall

One of Lodgepole's oldest structures on Highway 30 has been razed to make way for a modern Lodgepole Fire Hall. Built in 1892 by Mr and Mrs J R Young, it housed a general store and opera house, with stonework by Swan Starkaine. The site later hosted a movie theatre and other businesses before deterioration. The new 60 by 75 foot fire hall will provide truck storage, a 14 by 50 foot storage room, and unified fire operations, preserving memories of the bustling corner store.
