After about four hours of deliberation a Cheyenne County jury returned a not guilty verdict Tuesday in The State of Nebraska vs Betty Nienhuser on embezzlement charges involving 3700 from The Ackerman-Robinson Agency. The five day trial featured closing arguments by County Attorney John Peetz Jr. and others, with witnesses including agency owner W J Robinson and former employees.

Wintry Weather Brings Snow and Low Temperatures
A total of .23 inch of precipitation fell Monday night and Tuesday morning boosting soil moisture. Strong northerly winds followed the snowfall with temperatures ranging from 3 to 45 Monday, 2 to 22 Tuesday, and near zero to 42 by noon Wednesday.
Flying Aid System To Be Updated At Sidney Airport
The City of Sidney will start May construction on a new VORTAC facility at Sidney Airport to improve instrument guidance for pilots. The installation near the airport will upgrade directional aids, with commissioning expected February 1968. The project, part of a FAA safety program, will not disrupt flights while runway lengthening proceeds and highway relocation cost sharing is planned with Missouri Valley Construction Co. of Grand Island as the low bidder.

Oshkosh Man Killed In One-Car Crash
William G. Polk 23 of Oshkosh was killed Monday in a one car crash about one mile south of Oshkosh. Garden County Sheriff Ray Lloyd said Polk, alone in his car, apparently lost control and struck a bridge railing after hitting ice. Nebraska's 1967 highway death toll reached 59, compared with 60 on the same date last year.

Firemen Nix Rescue Plan For Lodgepole Village

A crowd of 450 to 500 attended Sidney Elks Auditorium for Cheyenne County centennial kickoff. The Fort Robinson Stage Line will provide the official coach for the Deadwood to Sidney trail ride during August's Centennial celebration. Owned and operated by Merle Kilgore and Dr. Vernon C. Rockey, it will be driven by Bob Soester. Ron Mercer of the Chamber of Commerce announced the arrangement, noting the stage line was contracted by Nebraska authorities.
