Thousands Help Build 4-H Home In Cheyenne County
The Cheyenne County 4-H building, begun ten years ago as a concrete shell, has become a hub for about 2,000 4-H youths. Members, leaders, and Extension groups funded and added improvements, from ceiling and walls to cabinets, curtains, and landscaping. Now the drive continues to tile the main floor, adding a shuffleboard court and a 4 square area, with donations encouraged and a baby beef calf raffle to boost funds.

Minor Damage In Accidents In Sidney This Weekend
Police investigated two crashes with no injuries. At 10:53 a.m. Saturday on Osage east of 10th Avenue a 1958 Ford driven by Airman Thomas R. Mieloch 20 of Bay City Michigan collided with a 1963 Ford driven by Marvin C. Harmsen 26 of Potter causing $80 damage to Harmsen’s vehicle. At 1:20 p.m. Saturday a two car crash at 14th and Illinois caused $75 damage involving a 1957 Chrysler driven by Lloyd W. Reineka 05 Sidney and a 1957 Ford driven by Deanna M. Rogers 18 Sidney.

Young Farmer Leroy Schmidt Dies of Heart Attack
Leroy Schmidt 43 died in the late Saturday afternoon from a heart attack found in his truck on 7th Avenue Sidney. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Benjamin Warrenburg officiating. burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Surviving are his widow Kathryn four daughters his parents two brothers and a sister. The Heart Fund is designated as a memorial.

Bulls Bring Good Prices At Sidney Spring Sale
Fifty six registered bulls sold at the Sidney Livestock Sales Pavilion with top black bull bringing 1820 dollars. Black and whiteface stock fetched solid prices along with bred heifers and calves. In all 85 bulls and 85 hogs sold, total cattle 215. Pavilion officials floated a possible move away from Saturday sale day to improve seller and buyer turnout.

Bookmobile circulation shows solid February in regional libraries
The Western Plains Regional Library reports satisfactory bookmobile circulation in Cheyenne and Kimball counties for February. Kimball county totals 2,195 books and Cheyenne county 5,060, while Sidney Public Library circulated 4,489. Bookmobile mileage was 1,294 with 529 books added: 164 adult non fiction, 73 adult fiction, 117 juvenile non fiction, and 175 juvenile fiction.

Equipment Day planned planning meeting Friday
An important luncheon meeting of the planning committee for the Panhandle Farm Equipment and Progress Day will be held at noon Friday March 8 at the Fort Sidney Motor Hotel. St Patrick’s Academy won top honors at the Panhandle D speech and one act play contest held in the academy auditorium. Sidney led with 59 points, Hem ingford 49, St Agnes Alliance 47, Minatare 38. Superior ratings went to Mike Janda Kathy Feuerborn Steve Treinen Nancy Rauner and cast of Open Windows. Local performers earned excellent ratings in prose reading address extemporaneous and other events. Judges were William Israel and Darrell Wood of Northeastern Junior College.
