Gas and Oil Tax Revenue Surges in January
Nebraska produced oil and gas in January brought in 3 319 450 dollars under the new severance tax. Ed Hoyt reports the first month take is 66 369 80 dollars. Rudy Munderloh Seeks City Council Seat in March Primary

Freak Crash Injures Peetz Cycle Driver
Two Peetz men were injured in a unusual motor cycle crash on Highway 19 a quarter mile south of the Sidney plant. James Meick 30 suffered possible basal skull fracture and was hospitalized in Memorial Hospital. Willie Meyer 27 had facial cuts and shock, treated and released. Deputy Brumbaugh said the bikes collided while Merck tried to pass, their handlebars locked, flipping both riders into the ditch.

Myers Rites Set In Potter Tomorrow
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Ellen Myers will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Potter Methodist Church. She died Saturday in Memorial Hospital at 71. Burial will follow in Potter Cemetery. Train Car Crash Kills Kimballite Farmer Near Kimball
Max Painter a 47 year old Kimball area farmer was killed Saturday when his car was struck at a Union Pacific road crossing seven miles west of Kimball. Safety Patrolman John Oliver investigated noting two trains east and west had poor visibility due to the setting sun. Painter died instantly and his death marked the eighth in the panhandle this year compared with five a year ago. Painter farmed north of Kimball.

Clark Seeks To Withdraw From Sidney City Election
Bob Clark a Sidney furniture dealer and candidate asked City Clerk Gordon Tobin to withdraw his name from the March 13 primary ballot. City Attorney Larry Clinton said withdrawals must occur 40 days before the election, leaving seven days until the primary. Car Owner Reports Vandalized 1951 Model Auto
Darrel Wenzel of Wissington Springs reported his 1951 model car was battered and mutilated by vandals on the north side Thursday night. He loaned the car to a friend in Kimball weeks ago and could not identify the attacker. Insurance coverage is claimed.
