Reception for Rector in Sidney Honors Rev Frost

The Episcopal community hosted a warm reception Wednesday at Mr. and Mrs. E. McLernon's home for Rev Frost recently named rector. The informal gathering featured a whistling performance by Joe Belmont, games for younger guests, and elegant refreshments, with many hoping the new rector stays long in Sidney.

Lutheran Church Celebrates Seventeenth Anniversary

The Lutheran church marks four years of growth with membership quadrupled and four hundred dollars spent on improvements plus two hundred twenty eight on an old debt. The property is in good condition and tomorrow’s services will include a choir performance and the burning of the note and mortgage.

State to Host Two Farm Institutes for Cheyenne County

The agricultural department will hold two farm institutes this March to aid Cheyenne County farmers and stockmen. Simla hosts March 14 with Col. Mat Youngers, Bridgeport hosts March 16 with J. A. Davis. Topics aim at practical farming and livestock management.

Excellent Entertainment at Tobin Opera House

Joe Belmont the famed whistler, aided by Mrs. McDonald of Denver and Miss Rushian Hart and Mabel Gapen of Sidney, gave a fine Thursday evening show at the Tobin Opera House under Episcopal church auspices. Belmont, an all round artist, out-whistles the inventor, sings well, plays piano, and ranks high as a humorist. The audience enjoyed something new and novel.

Mayer Haiston Couple Wed in County

Edward Mayer son of Mr and Mrs Jacob Mayer of Ickes and Minnie Haiston daughter of Mr and Mrs J B Haiston of Higgins were married by County Judge Tucker at B F Morris home on Wednesday. The Telegraph joins in best wishes for their future prosperity.

Local Petit Jurors Named for March 14 District Court

The list includes J. C. Maner, Michael Elsass, L. O. Spindler, and others as jurors for the March 14 term. Separately, Dr. Hendrick of Omaha, an ear nose throat specialist, will visit Sidney Monday March 13 at the Union Pacific Hotel to offer free examinations to new patients under his care.

Japanese laborers to arrive in Cheyenne for Union Pacific work

The Cheyenne Tribune reports about 500 Japanese laborers arriving over two months to serve as section men between North Platte Nebraska and Green River Wyoming. They replace other nationalities due to temperate habits and reliability. B and M brakeman I N Marks fell twelve feet from a bridge to the ground, injuring a leg and several cuts. he was taken home to Alliance and is expected to recover and return to work.
