Merchants had a big trade last Saturday with teams bringing in produce wood hay and cash. Fourth of July committees work hard to ensure success. Farmers estimate wheat prospects depending on rain. Hartman Bros of near Dix passed through en route to Sidney for final proof on homesteads. At annual school meeting M J Lundell elected treasurer Peter Erickson director two mills levy approved. An introduction committee organized post program social time.
At 8 30 p m on June 20 in eastern city, Miss Mattie McGee and Mr Eugene Taplin wed with Rev E L Fleck officiating. The bride, longtime Cheyenne County educator, is noted for public service and local school work. The groom, a Denver businessman with Cheyenne County ranch ties, is respected for integrity. Guests included Prof J B Ragan and wife, Mr and Mrs McCaskey, Miss Lillie Paige, and Mr E Reynolds.
The Butler County Press notes a wedding ceremony followed by congratulatory remarks and a feast from Mrs. McGee. The newlyweds departed on the 9.18 B.&M. train to Denver Colorado today and will host friends after July 10. Their friends extend best wishes for their new life together.
Twelve graduates met Thursday to organize an Alumni society at Sidney High School with Leslie Neubauer as chairman Rebecca Doran as secretary and John Barnhart Harry Hull and Mary Slingluff among officers and a yearly reunion planned The group aims to draft by laws and expand membership while praising Prof McCoy for guiding the effort and noting past classes since 1890 totaling twenty one graduates
Fort Smith Ark dispatch reports the jury found Mrs Mary A Kettenringe George Washington Frazier and Richard Calhoun guilty of murder in the Kettenringer case. The victim was her husband killed near his Muldrow Oklahoma home over a $20000 life insurance. The prosecution tied the crime to a long running insurance fraud plot.
