Hold-The-Line Budget And City Paving Districts

City Manager Tom Coffey presented a hold-the-line budget of 419 075 to the City Council, with a 23 320 mill levy based on 11 500 000 valuation. The plan reduces waste fees, drops parking meter levies, and funds debt service while keeping tax load possible if valuations hold. Four Country Club area streets pursue paving districts to avoid costly repaving later. Rose Street paving district approved. bids for two police cars awarded. a flat-bed truck bid and seven building applications approved.

Swiss artist finishes four month Peetz church windows

Miss Bradi Barth of Ghent Belgium completed a four month project painting seven decorative stained glass windows for Sacred Heart Church in Peetz Colorado. The Swiss artist created Creation Nativity Beatitudes Last Supper Crucifixion Resurrection and Assumption scenes using water colors and lacquer on glass with a protective plastic filter.

Diving Tower Fall Injures Youth in Sid ney Hospital

10 year old Rick Innes, son of Mr and Mrs C V Innes, is reported in very satisfactory condition at Sidney Memorial Hospital after a fall from the swimming pool diving tower Tuesday afternoon. He suffered a severe concussion when he struck his head on the concrete neck.

Omahan Injured In One Story Elevator Fall

An Omaha man, Donald Macey, age 40, was injured after falling one floor down an elevator shaft at a Sidney hotel Monday evening. He was listed in good condition at Sidney Memorial hospital with a concussion cuts bruises and rib injury from stepping into an open shaft thinking the elevator cage was there.

Western Nebraska oil output hits new daily record

Oil production in Nebraska climbs to a new all time daily average of 64 422 barrels for the week ending June 20 with optimism rising for new Western Panhandle producers. Thief Steals $13 But Returns Trousers

A passing motorist lost $13 in Sidney but regained his dignity when the thief returned his trousers. R D Ewers of Phoenix, Arizona, told sheriffs deputies someone broke into his room at a local motel Tuesday evening stealing his wallet containing $33 and his trousers. The thief emptied the wallet and tossed the billfold and trousers back into the room.
