Big Fort Sidney Days crowd tops 15 thousand in 1952
The 1952 Fort Sidney Days drew about 15 000 people Friday and Saturday with 70 parade entries Friday and at least 130 on Saturday. Maddox Motor Company won both the $50 Sweepstakes and $75 first in the artistic division. Awards went to St Pauls Walther League Sioux Ordnance Depot and Okola Ridge 4 H. Old Timers prizes and largest residence honors were given. The barbecue drew a full crowd and heat wave forecasts worried wheat harvests ahead.

Three Cars Collide in Flames Near Sidney
A three car crash on Highway 30 two and a half miles west of Sidney left a 1941 Fort convertible destroyed by fire at 8:20 p m Saturday. Driver Harry L Ryan of Sidney escaped serious injury. passenger Miss Lavonne Rogan, 17, suffered a cut foot needing five stitches. Damages totaled 350 to the Pontiac and 600 to the De Soto.

Sheriff Bill Tegtman recounted the capture of Hugh Griffith, the wife slay fugitive. Paul Buxman, a nearby farmer, spotted Griffith near the section house and alerted authorities after noting Griffith removed license plates. Rev Dorn said the news was to ease fears among family and others that Griffith might harm them. He had reportedly threatened several people and the announcement caused a mild sensation at the service.
