Irrigation District Seeks Buy Belmont Canal in Cheyenne County

The Cheyenne county board reviews a petition to form an irrigation district to purchase the Belmont Irrigating Canal and Water Power Company assets. Named territory spans Secs 3 4 5 and surrounding parts in Townships 2 19 30 North Platte region, with hearings set for July.

Judge Grimes heard Bridgeport saloon cases Thursday and dismissed the remonstrance appeal from the Board of Trustees decision granting licenses to David W. Lee and Micheal Hagerty. The board may again grant licenses if desired, ending enforced breath at Bridgeport.

Sale of Bordwell Ranch on Ledgepole Creek

Mr L H Bordwell sold his ranch on Ledgepole creek through B A Jones to Libbernseen of Omaha who plans to move there with his family in March 1908. He will hire carpenters masons and painters to improve the property featuring alfalfa fields a water power plant and electric lighting near Sidney with good road access. Bordwell will continue his civil engineering career and Cheyenne County is portrayed as having a bright future.

Dagger candidate for County Commissioner urged in paper

J. Stuart visited from North Platte. George Martin of Cheyenne named traveling fireman for Wyoming Division east of Cheyenne. James Christianson left the round house for a visit in the eastern state.

Young Couple wed in city ceremony

Leslie V. Sanders of Ickes and Misa Pearl Jacobson of Potter married in a Monday afternoon service officiated by County Judge Tucker. The couple, described as popular young people, will reside at Ickes where the groom is a prosperous farmer.

Alliance junior normal opens with strong start and new boarding feature

The Alliance junior normal opened under favorable conditions with 60 students on day one, up 334 percent from last year. Principal Haven streamlined operations, a boarding house feature began, and letters from Deputy State Saps E C Bishop and local pastors added encouragement. Enrollment by county shows 60 total, with several students taking Life Certificate courses and a noted lecture series including Chicago and Nebraska glee clubs.
