Curtis Bases Nebraska Critique on Great Society
Nebraska Republicans met at Ft Robinson where Sen. Carl T. Curtis attacked the Great Society as harming Nebraska. He charged the Democrat state administration with no basic state problems solved in six years and urged GOP workers that the 1966 elections carry great weight nationwide. Curtis claimed no Bureau of Reclamation projects have been started in Nebraska or the Missouri Basin during the Great Society era. He warned that later than expected, the party must fight. The speech intertwined political critique with unrelated food guidance about stewed versus plain canned tomatoes and recipe ideas for Western sandwiches.
