Fort Sidney Days features a sponsor ed rodeo at the Saddle Club grounds south of Sidney on Saturday and Sunday with stock from Harrison owner Bill O Connor of Elsie Nebr. A total of 104 cowboys entered, and only three of 17 bulls were ridden. The event includes parades, a free 4 pm barbecue on Saturday, a historical display, kids activities, and a dance at the Armory headlined by Millard Musil.

Mr and Mrs George Ehlers of Gurley returned from Houston after being notified of the death of their son in law Cliff Heffelfinger who died in a June car truck crash. Their daughter Phy sic Buchanan was badly injured and hospitalized. Heffelfinger children were cut and bruised but released from the hospital.

Inter-City Rotary Meet Set by Chappell Hosts

Former Sidney Teacher Injured In Accident
Miss Ruth Gilmore, a Scottsbluff teacher once believed to have taught fifth grade in Sidney, suffered a fractured skull in an accident east of Broadwater about two weeks ago. She has been unconscious and was moved from Scottsbluff to DePaul Hospital in Cheyenne for special treatment.

A theft occurred at the W R Akins residence during funeral services for Mr Atkins. About $40 in cash was taken from a pack, stocks, and bill folds. Deputies said the house was found unlocked but nothing else appeared disturbed. Sheriff WW Schulz led the investigation.

Unusual Roadside Episode Near Fort Laramie
A flat tire on Route 26 west of Fort Laramie set off a chain of events involving Sidney residents Mr and Mrs N W Ladegard and relatives. Richard Forbes, a 44 year old teacher from Sibley Iowa, collapsed and died after helping with the tire repair. Mrs Pageler suffered a heart attack but recovered. Coroner Colyer noted Forbes had prior heart issues. his body was sent to Iowa.

Donations bolster the geriatrics ward project though the active drive fell short, and extra gifts continue as a September 1 bid call is hoped to trigger fall construction in favorable weather.

Sports Car Loses In Tangle With Cadillac
A 1958 Simcha driven by Dr. Lauren R. Mead of Pine Bluffs Wyoming was rear ended by a 1955 Cadillac operated by Lucille Parks of Sidney. The collision occurred Monday morning two miles south of town on Route 19. Deputy Sheriff Gene Morris investigated and estimated $50 damage to the Mead car with no damage to the Cadillac.

Idaho Car Theft Case Involving Cross State Line
Carl Cleo Lowry pled guilty before U S Commissioner Lou Thorpe to transporting a stolen car across a state line under the Dyer Act. He faces transfer to Deputy U S Marshal Earl Sweeney of Grand Island. The vehicle was stolen from Garland Jolly Jr. of Blackfoot Idaho. Lowry had earlier appeared in Cheyenne County Court on intoxication charges, fined $25 and costs.
