Sidney Voters to decide $149,500 pool bond

Voters will head to 7am to 7pm polls Tuesday to consider a $149,500 bond issue for a new swimming pool in Sidney Nebr. The plan allocates funds with 50 percent state match and city share to be paid over 10 years.

Fire guts farm home near Brownson. $100,000 loss

Fire at the Mrs Harold Lyngholm residence one mile south of Brownson caused an estimated $100,000 damage. It was detected by State Trooper Marvin Jensen and fought by the Sidney Rural Fire Dept and Gurley department with aid from local resources. One firefighter sprained a leg, others rescued some belongings. Lyngholm was in Pueblo when the blaze started. The fire prompted calls for a Class A upgrade and bigger pumping capacity.

At about 2 a.m. EDT prison guard Joe Chapman found James in a makeshift hiding place as Sandy and Little Red, nicknames for pursuers, closed in. The scene unfolded with Chapmand prompting the question James was asked: are you all right.
