Record of L. P. Houge's farming feats near Sidney
Cheyenne County resident L. P. Houge is cited as the county’s pioneering tractor farmer and a leading Nebraska producer. Over four years he has built a sizable operation northeast of Sidney, using a 40 HP six cylinder tractor to plant 1920 acres this season including 1000 wheat 700 flax 100 corn 100 oats and 20 alfalfa. With two helpers he completes heavy work and plans to break 640 more acres for fall wheat, proving the potential of the undeveloped county and urging more settlers to farm here.
