Jessen Truck Figures In Tragedy Tuesday
A Jessen Oil motor truck from Lodge Pole collided with a westbound Burlington bus two miles east of Brady killing Ody Kerr who was en route to Los Angeles to collect a soldiers bonus. Guy Golden of Gothenburg drove the truck and two other passengers were injured. County Attorney S S Diedrichs said the bus struck the tanker after Golden fell asleep and the crash occurred about 6 30 a m. Kerr sat in the bus rear and suffered a fatal skull injury likely from a prior accident. Officials noted about a dozen aboard the bus and Kerr had boarded at Morningside Iowa.

Mrs Haworth Succumbs in Sidney after Prolonged Illness
Mrs Emma Haworth wife of Sidney druggist and city councilman Fred G Haworth died yesterday in a local hospital after several months of illness. A resident of Sidney since 1919 she was born in Tama Iowa and married in Toledo in 1897. Funeral services will be Sunday at 2:30 PM at the Methodist Church with Rev J J Sheaff officiating. Interment in Sidney Greenwood cemetery. Survivors include her husband two children Earl and Mrs Hershel Spearow two grandchildren two sisters and other relatives. Death followed a period of critical condition and long bedside attendance by family members.

Mrs. Vaclav Vacik, 82, pioneer homesteader near Sunol, died Saturday at Lisco. Funeral Monday at two, with Rev. C Goldenstein officiating and I W Wright of Oshkosh in charge. Born July 4, 1853 in Mirovice Slovakia, she came to America in 1865, married Vaclav Vacik in Chicago in 1875, had 11 children, and lived briefly in Wilbur before homesteading southwest of Sunol.

Porters Celebrate 50 Years of Marriage in Sidney
Fifty years of married life were completed Wednesday, June 10, by Mr. and Mrs. William Porter, longtime Sidney residents. A quiet family dinner at their home was attended by relatives from Lincoln and Sidney. The Porters married in Lincoln in 1886 and lived there until 1920 when they moved to Sidney. Mr. Porter helped erect the Chowins building on Illinois Street decades ago, a structure still in daily use and owned by Guy V. Doran. He was a stone mason by trade and served as deputy sheriff under several sheriffs.
