Mrs. William Winkleman, long known in the Dalton area, died in North Bend after a Memorial Day visit. She and her husband moved to Cheyenne county two years ago and settled on a farm ten miles west of Dalton. Two Hundred Still Have Jobs On Relief Projects In County
More than 200 men remain employed in Cheyenne county on emergency jobs providing small incomes for themselves and families. At one time this spring about 300 worked on various projects but most have finished. About 200 are on the Lincoln highway east and west of Sidney and in the city proper. The post office also employs several daily. The number fluctuates daily. Six men work in a gravel pit south of town with many truck drivers and trades on site. Building work likely lasts until late October or November. Road jobs should continue through summer with east of town projects nearing completion by July 1 and Sidney pavement ending this week.Continued on Page Six

Fish And Lake Move In Sandhill Twister
A sandhill lake formed where none existed after a series of western Nebraska twisters two weeks ago. The new 200 acre lake teems with fish especially bullheads. John Schik reported the wind event near Alliance, on land owned by S B Soward, about 25 miles northeast of Ellsworth. The wind carried water and fish across to a lower area. Continued on page 6.

A gravel pit collapse trapped R. H. Starr of Ol sori Construction on Monday afternoon. More than 40 tons of gravel caved in before fellow workers warned him. Starr escaped beneath the bank and a wheelbarrow, narrowly avoiding burial like O. G. Harwood. He was rushed to Sidney for treatment.

Two Are Killed One Hurt In Mitchell Area Wreck
Two persons were instantly killed and nine injured in a four mile northwest of Bayard auto crash Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Don Blackburn 35 Mitchell and Elizabeth Lundgren 18 Bayard died.
