Corporate tax plan seen not to deter Nebraskan industry
A six month Corplan Associates study for the Nebraska Economic Development Department says the two percent corporate income tax is not a major deterrent to plant location. It notes Nebraska offers assets in labor, rail, and utilities, but cites weaknesses in air freight, highway access, and education in outstate areas. The report suggests long range steps including tax incentives for research and capital projects, but officials indicate immediate tax exemptions are unlikely. Nebraska also forms a four member Civil Rights Committee to study federal law impact on Indians and tribes. Nebraska received a $310000 federal grant to develop ambulance and emergency medical treatment programs.
