On To Oregon Band Heads For Portland Rose Festival
About 103 band students and 40 adults prepare to travel from Sidney to Portland for the Rose Festival. The group leaves Sunday at 5 30 p m aboard the Union Pacific Portland Rose and returns Monday morning. They will perform in multiple parades and concerts including the Grand Floral Parade and the Queen's Own Band ceremony.

Fitzsimons Hospital Moves to Sterling If Attack Occurs
Fitzsimons Army Hospital in Denver will evacuate to Sterling in a national emergency. G I personnel will train in Sterling from next month through early fall and live in camps. Officials say Sterling offers greater safety from fallout and that Denver would have minimal fallout if attack occurs. An advance hospital team will inspect Sterling within two weeks and 50 to 400 personnel will rotate through the area for summer training. Helipad provisions and isolation wards at Logan County fairgrounds are planned.

Funeral Pending for Ruth Running Horse in Allan
Funeral services and interment are planned for Ruth Running Horse, 47, who died Wednesday at Memorial Hospital after a heart condition. A Sidney resident for about a year, she was born April 6, 1912, in Kyle, South Dakota, to Jefferson Blue Bird and Annie Yellow Thunder. Survived by six children and several siblings.
