Memorial Sermon Observed by Local Veterans Groups
Memorial Sunday activities conducted by the G A R S of V and W E R C began at the hall on Second street and moved to the Episcopal church where Rev. George Beecher of North Platte delivered a moving memorial sermon. The choir led by Mrs. Griffith performed well with Mrs. Stewitts on the organ and a solo by Mrs. Griffith during offertory. The service honored the Grand Army of the Republic and the families who prayed for Northern victory, ending with prayers for the brave souls who passed beyond. The church was decoratively adorned and filled to capacity with attendees impressed by the sermon.
