Hamlin Finds Suitably Quiet Cattle Range Near Powder Forks
J J Hamlin returned from a two week tour through the Bella Fourche to Powder Forks area in search of a cattle range for H V Redington of Sidney intending to move a 12000 head herd. He selected a Powder Fork site best in the region for small herds and noted 75000 cattle between Belle Fourche and Clear Forks with good water though Box Elder streams are hard to reach. Hamlin saw no Indians during over 600 miles of travel and was joined by Artington and another Spearfish resident. Redington plans to ship in his cattle at once.
