Frontier Refining Co announces construction of a finished products pipeline from Cheyenne to North Platte with a Sidney terminal storing 2,000,000 gallons and a 6,000,000 gallon North Platte truck terminal. The Wyoming Nebraska Pipeline Co will operate the line 220 miles, with Gulf Interstate Engineering and H C Price Co handling design and construction. Completion aimed by October 1, 1954.

Former Peetz Man Is Killed In Oregon Logging Camp
William V. Stone 28 former Peetz resident died Friday May 29 in a Brookings Oregon logging camp accident. He was crushed by a rolling log and death was instant. Burial in Peetz Cemetery with military graveside rites. Surviving wife Helen Newberry two children Linda Renea 5 Sandra Fay 3 his mother sisters and brothers. He served in the Marines in World War II and lived in Oregon since 1953. Burial and services set for Peetz Evangelical United Brethren Church.

Sears Roebuck Store Opening Planned for Sidney
Sears Roebuck and Co will open a mail order catalog store at 937 10th Avenue in Sidney around July 1. A representative will be at the address Wednesday through Friday this week to hire a manager, credit clerk, and full-time salespersons, with four or five employed initially. The new store, in the former Rogers Jewelry building, will ship orders via Railway Express or air freight from Denver and Kansas City and will handle its own credit locally. This expansion fits Sears plans to place catalog stores in Sterling, Fort Morgan, La Junta, Lamar, Colo., and Laramie, Wyo., as the Sidney area already supplies a large mail order business.

President Eisenhower placed a wreath at the Unknown Soldier tomb in Arlington as the nation observed the 85th Memorial Day.
