The Sidney Telegraph prepares a Centennial Edition mailed to all paid subscribers on Friday August 18 with about 1500 extra copies ordered at 35 cents originally, now $1 each including US mailing. The issue features old pictures and historical stories of Sidney and Cheyenne County, weighing about two pounds. Copies will be sold at The Telegraph office and newsstands alongside the regular August 18 issue.

Pony Express Revisit Heads Through Sidney August 14
The Pony Express ride returns to Sidney Nebraska on August 14 en route to St. Joseph Missouri with a 3:30 p.m. arrival and 8 p.m. departure. The re enacted event will stop at Scotts Bluff Monument for an overnight and features 4 H cadet covers sold for 25 cents to fund next stations. 74 horses will be used in Cheyenne County with riders largely from 4 H clubs.

The Don Laflers reported killing a porcupine on the steps of their home about 4 30 a m last Friday morning, 15 miles southeast of Sidney. Mrs Lafler woke to the family dog barking and found the docile animal on the porch. her husband chased it into a corner and shot it. The porcupine weighed almost 30 pounds, surprising the Laflers who are unused to such terrain and climate.

Elmer, 29, served two years in the Navy and four active and four inactive years in the Coast Guard, plus a brief National Guard stint. Delbert, 37, is a 17 year veteran who served in the Army Air Force before joining the regular Air Force. he will soon return to Vietnam for support duties.

Prominent Dalton Man Dies Today
Ernest Easter Osborn, 80, a longtime Dalton resident, died at Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Funeral services are set for 2 PM Wednesday at Dalton Presbyterian Church, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Kimball Man Is Drowned Sunday
Kimball resident Max Bradford, 28, drowned Sunday afternoon at West Lake Reservoir about 12 miles west of here. Volunteer firefighters recovered the body after a 20 minute search. Found about 30 feet from shore, authorities预计Bradford tangled in weeds while swimming with his wife in 4 to 5 feet of water. Mrs Bradford hospitalized in shock.
