Early Plowing Pays for Winter Wheat
Experiment station results and farmer experience agree early plowing for winter wheat pays. A 3 to 4 week difference in plowing can decide good stands through winter, while moisture limits may delay cutting. Shocks should be removed promptly to begin plowing, depth matters less than timing, and early plowing conserves moisture and reduces weed growth.
