Gurley Lumber Company known across western Nebraska for builders material and hardware. The firm claims broad reach in Cheyenne County with a large, well kept yard and a top hardware store under manager Guy Wookey, active in town affairs and local development.
Gurley Flour and Milling Company occupies a leading role in Cheyenne county and western Nebraska. It produces flour, corn meal, grady flour, seeds, pancake flour, poultry foods and wheat hearts. Leading brand Cheyenne’s est Patent is known widely. The elevator handles 2000 bushels, shipping mainly to Omaha. The company is locally owned with 27 years of experience and new management aims to boost growth and returns.
Gurley Pharmacy in Gurley Nebraska claims one of the finest equipped drug stores for towns of its size. Established in 1922, it is owned by Lynn F. Cunningham with A. A. Iverson, M.D., as physician and prescription preparer. The store also offers fountain drinks, ice cream, books, jewelry, candies, cigars, and serves as town post office. Cunningham is postmaster and both partners active in civic promotion.
The Farmers' State Bank of Gurley has served Gurley and Cheyenne county for a decade. C W Smith is cashier and manager, T J Wansen presides, P T Wiggins is vice president, with C G C ian gon among the directors. The bank is noted for conservative management and financial stability in the Gurley community. Cheyenne county has no bonded indebtedness.
The Cagley Cafe at Gurley earns praise for wholesome meals that evoke home cooking. Regular meals and lunches are served daily, with the establishment operating for ten years as a community staple. Owner Mrs Cagley is noted for public spirit and local outreach through community efforts.
Cheyenne county in 1926 bought the greatest number of farm machines. Purchases were often paid over ten years. About 8 percent of machines were funded from the first crops after purchase, signaling farmer prosperity in the county.
The Gaales killing and Service Station along the south highway reopens as a modern station. Urbanski, manager, offers automobile fires, tubes and accessories. Arbussu of Gurley helps community with electrical and battery work, wiring, and repairs.
Dantsmia Garage, owned by Chole i Grim, serves motorists on the north and south highway. Thus Garage offers full car service with tires, fables, and accessories, Powerlabe oil, a gas station, and Mr Guin provides personal attention to each job. Grim, an active community member in Chey enne county, invites visitors to his place of business in Thintsmam, Me.
