Nebraska Irrigators urged to conserve water and improve practices
David Hendee reports a Sidney Draw meeting where Dean Axthelm urged farmers and ranchers to act as better irrigators amid drought. He warned that a declining water table could force shutdowns without wiser water use and better soil and crop knowledge. He cited tests reducing irrigation from 21 to 13 inches with proper management and called for more wells to read water levels.
