Husband wife doctors planned for Chappell practice

Schedule released for Cheyenne County Fair events

The Cheyenne County Extension Office released the Cheyenne County Fair schedule for August 1923. Key events include 4-H demonstrations, home economics judging, song and style revues at St Pat's, horse shows, livestock judging, and the RCA rodeo with opening performances on August 19 and 20. The week closes August 23 with livestock showmanship and tractor pulling contests.

Showers slow harvest finale in Panhandle

Scattered showers across the southern Panhandle hindered the 1976 wheat harvest cleanup. Western Cheyenne, Kimball and Banner Counties still had unharvested fields entering the weekend while others welcomed moisture. Sidney Airport reported 0.53 inches Sunday night and 0.69 inches last Wednesday, with Potter area receiving more. July total at Sidney reached 2.29 inches.

Budget hearings tonight set for Sidney budgets

Tonight two 1976 77 budgets are heard in Sidney for the City of Sidney and Educational Service Unit No 14. The City of Sidney faces a 1.2 million dollar budget up about 9 percent with a 403 879 property tax request, while the service unit proposes 4 0 HAR 7716 down roughly 100 000 from last year as residency programs shift to Scottsbluff. Bill Kelley notes adult and children residency program control shifts to the Office of Mental Retardation in Scottsbluff.

KN plans eight injection wells for gas storage in Devel County

Kansas-Nebraska Natural Gas Co filed notices to drill eight injection and observation wells in Devel County to fast track a new underground storage unit. The facility, in the Big Springs field, will store gas for KN's priority customers on peak days and cover several hundred acres with a two mile buffer.

First Kroy sprinkler units to South Africa shipped from Sidney

A shipment of the Kroy irrigation system left Sidney Manufacturing Co in a plywood crate bound for South Africa. The launch included a champagne bottle smashing ceremony, postponed when the bottle broke off the tape and struck the pavement. Alf Berndt Count von Merveldt promotes the project, with Connie Larsen and John Marrin present. Von Merveldt estimates about 19 more systems will depart Sidney over the next year at an overall cost around six thousand dollars plus ten thousand for the unit itself, not including pipe. Reagan selects Schweiker as running mate

Ronald Reagan announced he has chosen U S Senator Richard S Schweiker of Pennsylvania as his vice presidential candidate if he secures the Republican nomination. Schweiker, who has labeled himself liberal, welcomed the move saying it shows openness and a broadly based party.

Six NRD seats up for election in South Platte district
