Robert Conn former Sidney resident living in Columbus Nebraska was killed instantly when struck by Union Pacific eastbound train No. 8 a few miles east of Ogallala while inspecting a bridge. He tried to lift his bike from the track but was struck before stopping. He leaves a wife and twelve year old son.
In a July 24 filing, seven federal suits seek to remove unlawful fences and enjoin permanent enclosures on 298 224 acres of public domain in western Nebraska. District Attorney Goss and Special Attorney Ruch lead petitions against Nord Creek Land and Livestock Rush Creek company and others including Thomas E B Wells of Chicago and Ruben Lisco of Lodgepole Neb. Samuel P Jones also named. Also notes an advertised letter list for Sidney post office with unclaimed names ending July 27 106 he following.
The Cheyenne County Republican gathering met Saturday with broad turnout and harmony. Officers, credentials committee, and nominations shaped the slate. Henry B. Gapen nominated for county attorney, delegates elected to state and congressional conventions, and Joseph H. Millard praised for national service as the party solidified priorities.
Sidney Neb July 23 1906 the county board awarded Charley Erickson forty dollars for four acres taken by a public road and awarded Bridgeport Lumber Company the contract to re floor the Bridgeport Bridge after bond approval. Claims were audited and bridge funds allocated with action on road petition No 147 by Nick Mahv re a new route from section 1 to section 6 in town 12 range 40. Board adjourned to August 7 1906.
