282 Phones Dead As Cable Broken
A truck with a derrick attachment broke a 300 line telephone cable Saturday afternoon on 11th Avenue between Illinois and Jackson Streets behind the telephone building. The hook pulled the cable loose, leaving 282 telephones out of service until repairs were completed by 7 35 Sunday evening. This was the first outage since the new dial phones were implemented June 26.

Man Falls Into Elevator Shaft in Kansas Hotel Incident
Riley Woellhof 41 of Clay Center Kansas fell about three feet into a hotel elevator shaft at the Commercial Hotel Sunday evening. He suffered fractured ribs bruises and shock with X rays showing no further injuries. Funeral services will be held Thursday for Mrs Thelma Wasser 42 found dead in the laundry room of her home. Coroner and sheriff ruled death by self inflicted hanging after a period of illness and nervous disorder. She was survived by daughters Lawanna and Beverly.
